Karin Kawamoto

Usability expert on multi-national projects

With over 15 years of experience, Karin specializes in creating usable experiences for Web sites and applications by balancing marketing, business and user objectives.

 

As an expert in complex transactional applications and web development, Karin is especially adept at leading large-scale user experience projects that require a coordination of efforts among a great diversity of constituents. Her industry expertise spans automotive, consumer packaged goods, retail and insurance, with extensive knowledge in insurance and financial services.

Karin has traveled the globe (France, Germany, China and Japan) validating usability on projects that include globalization objectives. Additionally, she has developed internationalization plans for a major airline and a financial services firm, and has created international information architecture for a major U.S.-based auto maker. Karin’s extensive multinational experience enables her to excel in team building and managing multi-located, multidisciplinary teams while successfully interfacing with upper management. 

Throughout her career, Karin has worked with Aflac, AIG, American Express, Continental Airlines, Deutsche Bank, DHL, Merrill Lynch, MTV Networks, Sears, TD Ameritrade, The New York Times Digital, Unilever and Wyeth, among many others. Her work has earned numerous awards, including:

Karin earned a BA in Social Science from the University of California, Irvine. As a guest lecturer at the New York Institute of Technology, she delivered speeches on topics such as collaboration in the workplace and effective information design.
