Don Hameluck, Ph.D.

User experience architecture expert

With over 20 years of experience, Dr. Hameluck is an expert in user experience architecture. He specializes in design strategy, user research, user-centered design, usability evaluation and human factors principles.

 

Dr. Hameluck has evaluated and designed user interfaces for industry-leading companies in the financial services, enterprise software insurance and Internet industries. He provides direction and consulting services on corporate Web sites and business and technical applications (enterprise business systems, intranet and extranet.) Dr. Hameluck is especially skilled in software user-interface design and prototyping, user-centered design reviews, usability laboratory and user focus group evaluations, end-user surveys, contextual inquiry and user-centered requirements gathering and prioritization.

Throughout his career, he has built an impressive client list, including Air Canada Vacations, America Online, Bank One, BMO/MasterCard, Canadian Securities Administrators/Ontario Securities Commission, CIBC, Deutsche Bank, FleetBoston Financial/Quick & Reilly, Marshall & Ilsley Bank, Paine Webber, Royal and Sun Alliance Insurance, T.Rowe Price, Thomson CompuMark and Yahoo Canada.

In addition to his practical work experience, Dr. Hameluck is a professor at York University for courses on Descriptive and Inferential Statistics and Advanced Research Design in Psychology. He was awarded the Major Teaching Development Grant to develop the course Software Usability Issues and Methods.

Dr. Hameluck holds a Doctor of Philosophy in Experimental Psychology (Human Factors specialization) from York University in Toronto, a MA in Experimental Psychology from York University in Toronto, a BA in Psychology from the University of British Columbia in Vancouver and an Associate in Arts and Sciences in Psychology from Capilano College in North Vancouver.
