Tandemseven is a privately held, self-financed consulting company that designs and architects business portals and custom e-business applications. We specialize in creating, usable, intuitive interfaces for complex applications. 

We are currently hiring Principal Technical Architects in the New York area.

The Principal Technical Architect position requires a candidate who is not only skilled in building technical solutions, but also has strong experience working with clients, planning projects, writing proposals and working with a seasoned sales team to generate new business opportunities. While we prefer an unrestricted ability to travel, TandemSeven would like to anchor technical teams around Principal Architects in the Boston, Chicago and New York areas.

Qualifications

• Project Leadership
• Ability to lead engagements and work independently or with a team
• Strong client-facing presentation and communication skills (both written and verbal)
• Ability to plan projects, write proposals and statements of work

Background/Experience
A minimum of 7 years experience delivering enterprise software solutions or web-based development is required. The successful candidate should have a combination of client, server and database skills. While no candidate will have all applicable skills, they should be familiar enough with the architectures to lead experts in the development of applications.

Architectural Requirements

• Requirements definition: Gathering, documentation and tracking
• Ability to design and deliver enterprise level solutions
• Ability to handle multiple projects and proposals concurrently 
• Must be able to work in the United States and travel to customer engagements. Ability to travel approximately 50%)

Client-side skills: JSP/Struts/ASP/XML/XSLT/Swing/HTML/Java Script; Java Servlets; Portal IViews

Server-side skills: Webservices, Services Oriented Architecture (SOA): J2EE, Java Certifications; Weblogic/Websphere/Open Source (JBOS, ANT Apache, Tomcat)

Database: Oracle; SQLServer

Portal experience: IBM Websphere, BEA

Preferred

• Minimum 5 years of senior consulting experience working for large, Fortune 500 companies
• Experience with UML
• Experience working with a senior design team
• Experience with trading systems, financial/fund accounting reporting systems, market data feeds, or pricing engines preferred
• Experience working with multiple instrument types (e.g., equities, FX, fixed income, etc.)
• Experience/familiarity with financial services protocols preferred (e.g., SWIFT, FIX, FIXML)

Candidates with Financial Services background will be given first priority, as will candidates with Portal experience.
