About the session
Rich Internet Application or RIA (Ree-ah) is a term coined by Adobe Systems a few years back. It has quickly become one of the most misunderstood and misused terms on the Internet. What exactly is a RIA? What is Rich? What is the difference between a RIA and other Web applications? What is the difference between common RIA tools, such as Flex, Flash and AJAX?

And most importantly for this audience, how do I write/design for Rich Internet Applications and how can I use them effectively to achieve my communication and business goals?

Dr. Garrand will first answer the questions above and clearly define RIAs. He will then show examples of RIAs, illustrate their special capabilities, and discuss some of the approaches to writing and designing for these powerful tools.
