Girl Scouts Portal Case Study: Achieving a six-month target voluntary adoption rate in six weeks
Thursday, October 7
2:45 p.m.

About the case study session
Beset by poor usability, meager functionality and low user affinity, Girl Scouts needed to replace its existing system with a new Sharepoint extranet portal that its 10,000 council members would adopt quickly. Presenters will reveal how a user-centered design approach helped ensure adoption. Topics include:

  • The power of user research
  • Importance of personalization and customization
  • How to design a highly usable and intuitive user interface
  • The role of visual design.

Attendees will learn about business benefits achieved, including how the highly-usable portal is being used to streamline communications, manage and share information, and foster culture and community via collaboration tools.

About the forum
Harnessing these trends to drive real business outcomes — like revenue growth, reduced operating expense, and improved return on assets — requires IT to assume a new leadership position. On top of building engaging Web experiences to drive revenue and reduce service costs, content & collaboration professionals must optimize portal, search, collaboration, and eDiscovery strategies that enhance employee productivity while mitigating risks. Content & collaboration professionals require a new set of skills to address the culture, process, and technology changes amid this groundswell of business technology expectations.

To capitalize on these changes, Content & Collaboration professionals will learn to:

  • Engage customers across emerging channels. Learn how empowered employees can better serve customers using social, cloud, mobile, and video technologies.
  • Innovate by harnessing the power of collaboration. See how leading organizations are using organizational models, tool sets, and new skills to accelerate innovation with collaboration platforms and tools like social networks.
  • Accelerate your strategy while balancing risk and return. Learn to optimize processes and tools like enterprise content management, eDiscovery, search, and intranet portals to mitigate risks and maximize information discovery, use, and re-use.
