TandemSeven's Dr. Lawrence Najjar Presents Java Accessibility UI Design Guidelines at HCI International 2005

Boston, MA., June 28, 2005 - Dr. Lawrence Najjar, Principal User Experience Architect for TandemSeven, will present his paper on Java accessibility user interface design guidelines at the 2005 HCI (Human-Computer Interaction) International Conference in Las Vegas, Nevada on July 27.

The paper, entitled "Accessible Java Application User Interface Design Guidelines" suggests specific user interface design and development approaches to conform with the Section 508 accessibility requirements set forth by the U.S. federal government for interactive software applications. The paper will be published in the 'HCI International 2005 Proceedings' which can be purchased at http://www.erlbaum.com following the conference. A pre-publication copy of the paper is available on the TandemSeven Web site.

"About one in five Americans has a disability, and this number is increasing as we age. Those of us with physical and cognitive challenges need to use software and Web applications. We do our jobs. We use online services. And we buy from eCommerce sites. Making software that is accessible is good for users and good for business," stated Dr. Najjar.

The objective of HCI International 2005 is to provide an international forum for the dissemination and exchange of scientific information on theoretical, generic, and applied areas of HCI, usability, internationalization, virtual reality, universal access and cognitive ergonomics. More information on this presentation and the conference may be found at http://www.hci-international.org/Wednesday.asp.
