TandemSeven hires Dr. Karl Steiner as Principal User Experience Architect

Dallas, TX., March 14, 2005 - TandemSeven, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in the usability and design of complex applications, today announced the hiring of Dr. Karl Steiner as Principal User Experience Architect. Based in Dallas, Dr. Steiner will lead usability and design initiatives for TandemSeven's Midwest and nationally-based clientele.

"Dr. Steiner's extensive background and experience in consulting, industry and academia will be a tremendous benefit to TandemSeven and our clients", said Frank Torbey, Chief Executive Officer. "He will be pivotal in helping us service our large national clients."

Dr. Steiner has managed and consulted with leading design organizations. He was a Vice President at Rare Medium, heading the User Experience team for the Broadband and Interactive Television practice. Prior to joining Rare Medium, he was a Partner with Ariel Performance Centered Systems, Inc where he led the practice in user-centered design and performance support, defining and communicating best practices both for Ariel and for client organizations. Prior to Ariel, Dr. Steiner also worked as the Human Factors and User Interface Project Leader for the eCommerce Division of Ameritech, leading efforts to incorporate user-centered design practices into the organization's development methodology.

Dr. Steiner's clients over the years include Procter and Gamble, Oracle, PriceWaterhouseCoopers, American Express, Metropolitan Property and Casualty, Payless ShoeSource, Fleet Financial, Computer Language Research, RealPage and Taco Bell.

In addition to his work experience, Dr. Steiner has been an active researcher and member of several professional communities. He has published papers and served on technical committees with the Association for Computing Machines Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction (ACM SIGCHI) and presented at conferences sponsored by the International Society for Performance Improvement (ISPI), Interactive Multimedia (INTERACT) and others. He has also given invited talks to the NYNEX Science and Technology Center, the Apple Advanced Technology Group, and Microsoft Consumer Products.

Dr. Steiner holds a Bachelor of Arts in Computer Studies from Northwestern University and a Masters of Science in Computer Science with a concentration in Artificial Intelligence and a Ph.D. in Computer Science with concentration in Human Factors in Computing Systems from the University of Illinois.
