TandemSeven Unveils Role-Based Design Methodology

Boston, MA., February 10, 2005 - TandemSeven, a boutique consulting firm that specializes in the usability and design of complex applications, today announced an enhanced version of their user-centered design methodology that is specifically driven by focusing on users' roles to design and develop applications.

The new role-based approach is a trend and best practice in design and usability of software applications. Research firms including Gartner and Forrester have recently been toting the value of role and scenario-based design techniques. Based upon personas that are developed for a given software application's user groups, the methodology is geared to provide TandemSeven consultants the tools to work with clients to rapidly understand requirements, uncover and document workflow needs and design streamlined solutions that improve usability.

"Role-based design is an important trend in developing software applications", Frank Torbey, CEO of TandemSeven stated. "Our process enables clients to think through the design of an application from each user's perspective and collect and prioritize requirements in a rapid yet practical way that helps to set a plan and structure for current and future development. The downstream savings in application modifications is huge".

The robust process includes templates for estimating work, capturing role-based requirements, tracing personas through requirements and deliverables including assessments, models, flow diagrams and specifications. The new methodology is the result of a week-long working session of the TandemSeven team to pull together process improvements that resulted from new client work in 2004.

TandemSeven is plans to leverage the new methodology with existing and new clients.
