The Challenge:

Inefficient and Fragmented Employee Experience

To better improve employee productivity and better serve its clients, the firm needed a more efficient way for its employees to access corporate data and collaborate. The firm had numerous sites that served different locations or corporate functions, posing governance and information access challenges.

Legg Mason engaged TandemSeven to design a new global Intranet its employees with a single source for information. The goal was to encourage communication and collaboration across the company, while maintaining corporate governance standards.

The Approach:

Taking a User-Based Approach to Focus in on the Highest Value Workflows, Functionality and Content

Conducting user research across multiple offices roles and functions, TandemSeven was able to identify the biggest opportunities to improve information access via new an innovative navigation scheme, enable digital collaboration amongst teams by using new robust personal profiles and social tools and designing a framework for intra-department content and personalization. The new intranet portal was also being designed based on a new CMS leveraging SharePoint which provided better document management and content governance capabilities. TandemSeven worked closely with Legg Mason’s HR and Compliance groups in addition to Marketing Communications and other groups.

The Result:

SharePoint-Based Legg Mason Exchange; Responsive and Mobile Ready

The Legg employee response has been extremely positive, and it has become a trusted source for internal information.  In addition to increased employee collaboration, productivity, and satisfaction, the new intranet has enabled improved client communication as well.
